The Home of Team69Racing!

  • This site was born out of the idea to give back to those that have given so much. This racing team was started in 2003 by myself (Wesley Skinner) and my best friend and mentor Carl Boshoff. We started out by purchasing a rather slow MK1 Ford Escort.  At this stage Carl had started his own company known today as Buffalo Forklift and Fleet Services. This racing team would be the key marketing tool his Business needed.
  • We spent all available hours outside of normal business hours trying to get this car ready, well to our standard anyway! The first thing that had to change was the colour, yellow and red were not suited to Carl's newly acquired Nissan Forklift agency. So a nice Limo BLack paint job followed. Then the sign writer came in and fitted "Nissan Forklift" in silver and red across the rear of the car.
  • The aim here was to have this car ready to run in the Border 100, to be held in the December of 2003. All work was complete and the car was ready for practice held one week before the "Big Day". We were very optomistic that everything was done and ready. Carl took the car out for a couple of practice laps and started to find his "line" around East Londons Gran Prix circuit.
  • Carl then became infected with an illness that would stick with the team for years to come. This illness simply put is called "lead foot", the medical definition of this goes some thing like this. "when a driver get a sudden rush of blood  to the head, he promptly jumps on the gas and ignores all warning signs in front of him. This may result in an blown engine".
  • To cut a long story short, the motor blew and needed serious repair, a crazy week followed. the car made it to the Border 100 although not really competitvely. It was towed back to the workshop more times than i care to remember!
  • That however was the start of Nissan Forklift Racing in the Eastern Cape. They crew has grown some and lost some, but everyone has put back into the sport we all love soo much! So i would personally like to thank Jeremy Alexander for his input into the team.  Jeremy left the team about a year later to pursue his body building career.
  • We battled on until one day the "Time Keeper" appeared out of nowhere, CJ Scholtz a friend i had made through DCSA. I called for a spanner while working underneath the car in the pits, CJ responded and that sealed the deal!
  • CJ brought with him some sponsors whom we are very grateful to. They are Car and Truck Auto repairs and Bezwoods Electrical. Our major contributor, friend and father Carl Boshoff although retired from driving now sits as Chairman of the Border Historics. To him we owe soo much, his time, experience and tremendous knowlege of all things mechanical. But mostly the financial side of things. Without Carl's efforts i would certainly not be racing today!
